Instructions

Things You’ll Need:
White Vinegar

Water

Step1
It's easy to clean a coffee maker. First, make a solution of one part vinegar to two parts water in your coffee pot. If you are using a twelve-cup coffee pot, this means that you should put 4 cups of vinegar into the pot, and fill the rest of the pot up with water.

Step2
Pour the vinegar and water solution into the reservoir of your coffee maker, and run it through the machine as if you were going to make a pot of coffee. You should still put an empty filter in your machine, especially if you use a metal filter. Once the vinegar solution has completed it's cycle through your coffee maker, let the solution sit in the heated coffee pot for about 1/2 of an hour, then discard the vinegar solution.

Step3
Your coffee maker is now clean; however, you should run a pot of clean water through the machine to flush out any remaining taste of vinegar.
